Drive-in-Racks are specially constructed structures that because of their design allow forklift trucks to enter the load position. A forklift would drive into the racking structure to place a load one behind another as well as over one another. This increases the storage capacity of the warehouse but reduces the selectivity. This form of racking is beneficial when pallets of identical material are to be stored without regard to the FIFO principle (first-in / first-out) storage method. Forklift vehicles capable of entering such racking structures are typically counterbalanced and reach truck types.
