Warehousing and distribution offers unique challenges in reducing the risk of personnel vehicle collisions and incidents.
It is common in these environments to have multiple fast moving vehicles such as forklift trucks working in congested areas often with limited visibility and reduced line of site.
In some environments visibility is a particular issue due to the presence of airborne particulates such as dust which can render camera and mirror in effective, Site Zone will detect transponders no matter how poor the visibility or lighting conditions
Pedestrian walkways and other safety measures reduce the risk of incidents in these environments; the introduction of Site Zone can help further reduce the risk of personnel – vehicle incidents.
Site Zone uses advanced RFID technology to surround any vehicle with a 360° detection zone (sometimes called the safe zone). If a Site Zone transponder enters the detection zone and event is triggered, most commonly in the form of an audible and visual alarm to the machine operator.
Site Zone is particularly helpful in these environments because :
The 360° detection zone means that transponders can be detected even in blind spots where the operator or vehicle mounted cameras may not be able to see.
Site Zone does not rely on operator action to provide a warning, if the detection zone is breach the operator is alerted to a potential risk
Site Zone data logs any events, these records can be used to confirm near miss and/or collision reporting, or to review current operational procedures
Site Zone can be used as a tool for health and safety training and implementation
Site Zone only looks for Site Zone personal transponders entering the detection zone. This reduces the risk of false alarms caused by random and spurious detection of non specific objects
Protecting more than People – Anti Collision
One of major benefits of the Site Zone transponders are that they can be used to tag valuable assets as well as personnel, this is especially useful in warehouses where there is the risk of a collision which could damage stock or infrastructure.
Site Zone can also be used to warn personnel when a vehicle is approaching from an area shielded by items such as industrial curtains.
